Good Beer Guide Voting Procedure
Congratulations to our Club of the Year - Naval & Military Club, Southend

Good Beer Guide Voting Procedure
At the beginning of January an email is sent to all members inviting them to vote for our Good Beer Guide entries and Club and Pub of the Year.
This is sent to all members of the branch that have a registered email address with CAMRA and have also opted in to receive emails.
Voting can be done by downloading a form and sending it back by email or post. They can also just send an email with their selections to ku.gro.armac.ees@GBG . Finally, paper forms are available at the February Branch Meeting, which is also the selection meeting.
The branch currently has 16 entries for the Good Beer Guide, so the 16 pubs with the most votes are selected.
Extra votes can be gained or lost depending on average WhatPub score based on at least 20 visits throughout the year. These scores are scrutinized for any abnormalities.
- An average score of over 4.2 would gain 2 votes
- An average score of 3.5 to 4.1 would gain 1 vote
- An average score 2.0 to 3.4 would be no change
- An average score of below 2 would lose 1 vote
The Pub of the Year and Club of the Year are selected from those people who have included a specific nomination in their vote. This operates on a first-past-the-post basis, in that the pub and club with the most votes is deemed the winner.
At the February branch meeting, the votes are counted by the GBG Coordinator (the name is listed on our contacts page) and then verified by a second person. All votes are recorded and are available for scrutiny for a time after the meeting.
This is the process that has been used for over a decade.
