Save Your Local Pub
Save your local pub!
Has your local closed suddenly? Is a once popular venue now in for conversion or demolition? Would your community like to own and run its own pub?
CAMRA can help!
We support hundreds of grassroots campaigns every year, giving advice on each step of the pub-saving process. Just head to camra.org.uk/saveyourlocal to get started.
What can CAMRA do?
Not every pub is a viable business, and there are times where it may be best to see the building put to other uses.
Unfortunately, there are also countless cases where unscrupulous developers seek a quick profit by gutting a much-loved social hub.
Communities can make a huge difference in preventing the loss of their pubs, whether through the planning system, local listing, or even taking ownership of their local and running it as a community venue.
You can find how-to guides, jargon-free explainers, and even bespoke advice from our experts – available to everyone and always free – via the CAMRA website.
National change
Grassroots campaigners across the UK do amazing work to keep their local pubs and social clubs from being lost, but it shouldn’t be up to communities to stand up to developers alone.
CAMRA believes structural change is needed, so that pubs get the protection they deserve. We’re challenging government and the pub sector to do better, and you can help create change too. See all the latest campaigns at camra.org.uk/take-action
