      An often busy Wetherspoon situated in Billericay High Street. Five changing real ales available, some from local breweries such as Brentwood and Maldon. There is a pay and display car park at the rear. Train station and bus stops are nearby. Occasional matches are shown on television but no music played. There is an outside seating area for drinking and smoking and also a designated family area where children are permitted up to 8pm.

      Close to the High Street, this welcoming pub with an inviting atmosphere has appeared in this Guide for over 25 years. Five ales are served, with one always from Oakham and they are part of the Oakademy plus one rotating craft beer along with imported German lagers. Top quality, home-made food is available selected lunchtimes and evenings, and a Curry Night on Wednesday's. The bar service is efficient and friendly. There is a cosy and attractive courtyard garden.

      Old coaching Inn converted by Wetherspoon into a large, open pub decorated with old photos of the local area. Breakfast is available until noon, with main meals and snacks until 11pm. Children are admitted until 9pm. Seven changing guest ales and up to three real ciders are served along with the standard Wetherspoons three - Ruddles, Doom Bar & Abbot. There is no music but there are fruit machines and muted TVs. Outside is a paved, heated and covered area for smokers and the pub also has a hedged front garden.

      A wide range of Leigh-on-Sea brewery beers are served through two cask and six key keg lines plus two hand pumps including one-off specials brewed on the pilot kit. The decor features a bar top of cockleshells. New covered and heated outdoor areas provide lots of seating. Occasional sporting events are shown on the TV, including international rugby. Regular music events and food pop ups take place. Open Thursday to Saturday, and Sunday in the summer. Hours can change so check social media.

      Popular pub serving six real ales and one cider most of which are locally brewed. One handpump is dedicated to a changing dark beer. Outdoor seating area has views across the Thames Estuary. Meals are served at lunchtime all week and in the evening Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which is mainly fish and chips cooked in the adjoining restaurant. One wall lists the names of all who sailed on the Mayflower. Dogs and children are welcome. Winter hours may vary

      A venue steeped in local history traditional values and character are embedded in its history (the pub has been in Old Leigh's records since 1757) have not been lost and the venue now truly offers everything you expect and deserve from a great pub all year round. In summer a great place to be seen, enjoy the sunshine and take in the fantastic panoramic views across the estuary. In winter enjoy the cosy open fires. The venue offers a great variety dishes including Traditional Fish'n'Chips and their own 'Old Leigh Cockle Chowder'.       A traditional pub (a short walk from the River Roach) with an aviary in the garden, real fires, fine Essex ales, and a very warm welcome. It has a history dating back over 300 years. In 1890, over 30 oyster smacks were based in Paglesham, and the pub became a meeting place for the hardworking crews; it is still a community hub. The home-cooked food is very popular, so the restaurant is often busy

      16th-century building clad in white Essex board with a single low-beamed bar. It has been a pub since the 1800's and is said to have been used by the notorious local smuggler William Blyth. His reputed exploits include drinking two glasses of wine in The Punch Bowl, then eating the glasses! (Not allowed now!). A small cosy restaurant next to the bar serves excellent reasonably priced food. Picnic tables are to the front of the pub. Up to four real ales are served, with beers commonly from Black Box Brewery and Wibblers Brewery.

      This Grade II listed weatherboarded free house has won many local CAMRA awards. In addition to the regular ales, four nationally sourced ales are available from Tring, Keppels, Nethergate and Tring breweries. The patio garden has a selection of furniture as well as a fish pond and a vintage petrol pump. At least two real ciders are sold from the box such as Westons Old Rosie and others. The attractive interior has a wood burning stove, a comprehensive juke box and a large screen television.

      **Pub now has new permanent managers in July 2015** . 4 real ales are now including Mighty Oak Maldon Gold and Sharp's Doom Bar. This was a Guide regular and frequent winner of local CAMRA awards. This welcoming and friendly pub is a few minutes walk from Rochford town centre or the railway station. Music and movie memorabilia adorn the walls of the bar. Function room available

Accommodation is available and breakfast is served, with main meals available until late. There is a pleasant outside seating area and conservatory. Beer festivals are held twice a year. Close to two railway stations and the bus station.

      This converted shop was Southend's first micropub and has up to four cask ales, with a least two from the local George's Brewery. Five real ciders, three craft keg pumps, one draught German pilsner and two draught ciders, one of which is Rocquette of Guernsey, are exclusively sold in Essex by Mawson's. Set in the Southchurch village area, the bar has a large gallery of Laurel and Hardy pictures. Quiet music adds to happy conversation, with monthly open mic nights including poetry and monthly quiz nights. They have a loyal customer collection card, buy 10 pints get a free pint.

      Awards Branch Pub of the Year and Cider Pub of the Year 2017 and 2018
